We have been reworking our Sketch Engine from scratch.
While still under development this new engine will allow users on all platforms to take their visual feedback to new levels with tools that are easy yet powerful with:
- Blazingly fast
- Proper transparency layering
- Create your own fine tuned brush presets
- Layers
- Object based
You can see a preview here:
Please let us know your thoughts, dreams, hopes below!

The new Sketch code is now live! See Using the SyncSketch Drawing Tools for details.

These are all great new features! Would it be possible to add a brush stabilization slider as well? When using the iPad Pro and apple pencil, I notice the lines are a bit more wobbly than when I am using my Cintiq. This would be a welcome feature!

LOVE the new drawing tool concepts here as I mostly restage panels and poses and the drawing tools that are currently in place make it hard to draft a good clean drawing which is kinda important when you're bitching about someone else's art! To have the pen actually feel like a pen will make it far easier for me to draw because I often found that the drawing pen would not complete a stroke and I would have to draw more than one time to get a complete stroke which is difficult because artists tend to draw in sweeping lines, cutting it in half and completing it with a second stroke causes weird bumps in the lines which have blobby bits that make the drawing look bad. The concept of layers and a timeline are invaluable for me and would speed my workflow up quite a bit. Any idea HOW soon we'd see this implemented as I would use it today!

The new UI quite promising!
Is a text editing tool something you could add too? We have people working on scripts (using .pdf files) that are drawing and adding text (script revisions and comments) directly on the file itself. It would be very useful if we could do that inside Syncsketch. Attached is an example of how they are working.

Francois Grosbellet: Agree with the text tool, not all of us have good handwriting skills. :D

Francois Grosbellet: Yes we do have this on the roadmap. This will be released in stages. The drawing code will come first but it will set the foundation for these other tools
Francois Grosbellet
Bernhard Haux: Great, looking forward to it!

We're very excited about this! Here are a few of our dreams:
Brush style that mimics the directional fade of airbrush (looked like this might be already be one the way)
Brush style that mimics clone stamp function in Photoshop (maybe already included in enterprise version?)
Color fill function, to create a closed shape and fill with a selected color. If this can combine with the current "color dropper" function that pulls an existing color from an upload, that would be extra useful.
Bernhard Haux
PAHC Art: These are great sugs PAHC!
By directional fade, are you referring to the fading of the brush opacity over the length of the brush stroke?
We currently have fading based on speed and pressure.
Mohammad Ali Shakeri
PAHC Art: Color fill function would be quite handy if we can have it, I would suggest to take a look at Procreate in this manner, They implant the tools underlying so the UI is super clean, but yet there are many tools in there if someone know how to work and if someone doesn't they would just it in the oldschool way.
