Thumbnail preview when sharing link
Nathan Wall
This is a great idea. And I like Bernhard Haux's suggestion to make it an opt-in setting on the Workspace.
I'd personally be happy with a single frame preview. Video/hover is having cake and eating too...but cool.

Thanks for the suggestion!

If I'm on a specific video and click share link, it sends me to that specific video when I open up the link.
Looks like there is a thumbnail for each of the videos on the left side of the review, maybe you could pull those thumbnails?
Mike Jennings
This is a cool idea, but the problem is that it's not clear what the thumbnail should be.
The links we share aren't actually for individual media items, they are for reviews. When a viewer follows those links they will enter the review and they will either see the first frame of the first video in the list of items (if joining unsynced) or they will see whatever everyone else is seeing (if joining a synced review).

We've considered this in the past, but we opted out of this for the time being for Security reasons. If you post a link to slack, the thumbnail image URL needs to be public. This breaks security expectations that our AAA clients have for us.
We might consider having this as a workspace setting to allow users to intentionally opt in, along with giving the user the appropriate warning

Bernhard Haux: That makes perfect sense.
I wonder if this could be an option within "Share Settings", defaulted off.
