Improved Search Function

It would be helpful to have an expanded search function where you can search for keywords/phrases for files within ALL playlists in the project. For example, if my director wanted to find all the times shot 0500_0010 was viewed within our project (not just a single playlist), she could search for that word, or "animation" or other key phrases. Any expansion of the search function would be a huge help in managing our playlists for a CG feature. Thank you!!

Can we close this request as the media tab allows for advanced searches?

Philip Floetotto Not sure what the original poster thinks but I think so. It has the functionality we need.
Philip Floetotto
Paul Robbins: Thanks Paul. I'll go ahead and close the ticket.

Yes, there are often times we want to search for a particular filename within all reviews but need to search manually. Expanding the search to include file names inside of reviews and not just the reviews themselves would be huge!
Philip Floetotto
Paul Robbins: Hi Paul, we do have extensive search capabilities in the Media tab. Have you tried that?
P
Paul Robbins
Philip Floetotto: Game changer! Man. How long has that been there? Thanks for pointing me toward that! Do you know if it supports wildcard searches?
Philip Floetotto
Paul Robbins: Haha, glad I was able to point you in the right direction. It does support "contains" searches e.g finding any file that has "din" in it. But what exactly do you mean by support for wildcards.
The coolest thing is, you can save these searches as bookmarks!! Like - show me the latest files uploaded by this used with this name, etc.. And you can share the URL of your search with anyone in your workspace as those are deep links!!

Philip Floetotto: Oh, the bookmarks saving is cool! By wildcards I mean typing "intro*4" where the asterisk can be any set of characters in the file name. This would return results like "intro_04", "intro_to_idle_14", "introOutro_v4".
Philip Floetotto
Paul Robbins: Currently not but that is a great suggestion. We'll discuss internally when we can tackle that and let you know once it's available.
Philip Floetotto
Paul Robbins: Hi Paul, the search inside the review tab has been renamed to "Search by Review Name". The global search on top has been improved (you can search by multiple search terms now e.g Shot_1 approved) and for a more persistent search experience we recommend using the Media Tab.
Hope this helps.

In addition to being able to search by filename (or file keywords / phrases), the capability to search by similar image could be helpful if doable (e.g. Google Image reverse search).

Totally agree. Having a Search tools along all the reviews within a same project would let us review per day, but be able to see all the versions of a some shot easily.

Agreed - this would be a super helpful function!
