Move/Relocate Comments to New Frame

Currently you can draw on a frame, and move the drawing, but once you type a comment, there is no way to change that comments type or frame.
it would be a nice feature if you can change what frame the comment is on (similar to how you can shift a drawing) or even be able to switch it from a frame comment to a general one.
currently we need to go to the comment, copy the text, go to the place where the comment should be, paste it in there and then go back and delete the comment thats on the wrong spot.
or if you type a general comment, ad forgot you have it set on general and type a few comments, it takes a very long time trying to figure out where the comment was meant to be

Just wondering if there has been any more consideration on adding these features?

We definitely understand the need for this. The workaround can be especially painful when there are replies that must be deleted first.
As for reassigning General -> Frame comment, would it be natural to find where in the timeline the general comment was meant to go, then reassign the comment to a frame comment, attaching it to the currently visible frame?
In any case, thanks for the suggestion, we'll see what we can do!

Mike Jennings:
Thank you for looking into this. would be a great functionality to add
Your idea could be one solution as a quick addition, but I think we could expand on the functionality a bit further
I have some ideas on how this could work.
Idea 01:
Store which frame the comment is on, with the comment, regardless of if it is a General or a frame comment. that way, General or frame number per comment could just be a Toggle. This would be especially useful on if you are typing the same comment multiple times and then realize you would rather prefer it to be a general one, so can toggle one and then delete the others.
so when the comment is a general one, it just does not show a frame number.
And this will solve the problem on if you are accidently typing all comments in general, you can just hit the edit button and toggle them to frame, and they should be on the correct frame where you typed the comment.
how this would work -
when clicking on edit comment, the toggle button would appear. so as well as being able to edit the actual text, you can toggle it to a general or a frame comment. (in the mockup, I have it as if you have already clicked the button to swap it, so the first one has been swapped from general to a frame comment.)
all general comments will still remain at the top (or will re order to the top when toggled to a general comment)
Idea 02:
When turning on "Activate Drag Markers" option, AND clicking to edit a comment. then the comments section could look like the last comment on the mockup I have sent.
This allows you to either click the left and right arrows next to the frame number to nudge the frame, or you could type in the frame number (it would change to a number entry, note the cursor) or possibly middle click drag on the number to drag the frame number left or right to go higher or lower.
Hope this is helpful and could be added... would simplify and speed up a few things.
I'm open to any discussions on this

Carl Visagie: Thanks for the detailed description and screenshot!

No problem :)
Im hoping that it will help to improve functionality.
(had to a few times try remember where a general comment was supposed to go today again)
Mike Jennings
Carl Visagie: I like your implementation suggestion because it does not require the user to go back to the timeline and hunt down where it was originally supposed to be. they could fix all of the accidentally-General comments right there in the top of the Comments pane.
And dragging markers by small increments gets harder as the clips get longer, so your frame number editing control makes sense. And if you're working in timecode rather than frame numbers it's likely to be easier to just use nudge arrows; I might even go one step farther and propose making that control draggable at high precision, like dragging in the canvas while holding down the K key.

Mike Jennings: Oh, I really Like that idea of being able to hold down a key on the canvas and drag
Mike Jennings
Carl Visagie: Well, you can try that one out right now, with the K key -- it precisely scrubs the timeline.
I was proposing that the frame number in the comment box could be a text entry field when clicked and be a high-precision scrubber when dragged in order to choose the new frame location.
