Return to Better Copy/Paste Abilities

In the previous version, you could paint a canvas white and then paste a drawing on it. Now you can no longer paste over a white painted canvas. It automatically pastes a transparent drawing. In the past, you could also copy/paste from different clips/windows, now you only copy/paste within the same clip. Please return the copy/paste drawing features to the previous, better functionality.

You can now paste sketches over a painted background in video clips and in the animated whiteboards. The background remains and the pasted drawing's alpha channel is observed.

With regard to the whiteboard issue specifically, There is a little-known function that might be a workaround if you know you want a white canvas when you start, and it will save you the trouble of painting the canvas white. If you add an item and look at the dropdown menu that appears, there will be a little … menu to the right of the Whiteboard option. If you select that you can set the default color (which happens to be white by default in that dialog), and copying and pasting within that whiteboard will then behave as expected.

Mike Jennings: Hello, thank you for your reply. When you say add an item, do you mean when you upload a video clip?
Mike Jennings
Terri Sajecki: Yes, when you click the + button in the Player view that is used to upload movies and create whiteboards.

Thanks for reaching out with that! It's important for us to know which features our customers rely on so we can prioritize fixes and new features.
The newly released drawing engine has brought with it some challenges with regard to copying and pasting, and by its nature it's a process that requires a lot of careful testing. It's definitely a priority to return to the functionality level we had before, and we will try to eliminate more of these gaps with every release.
